UFO DVD's

Are we saying here then Marc, that UFO already has HD masters,or
is SPACE 1999 only in HD form.If UFO simply has quality masters short of
HD then it begs the question why make HD masters of SPACE 1999,if not to take advantage of a
HD-DVD release.
If it sells, then surely the process of making HD masters of UFO is a fairly straight forward process.

No, UFO does not have HD masters. None of the Gerry Anderson series
have HD masters except for Space:1999, and the Space:1999 HD masters
are just being done for some possible future release. The main
motivation for doing Space:1999 now was to address the quality complaints
by the fans, plus do a special "30th anniversary" DVD release, and also
to help repair the deteriorating original elements, which haven't touched
for decade(s). The fact that they are also doing an HDTV transfer
is more of a "while we're at it, we might as well do an HDTV transfer
too, then we won't need to do this several years down the line".

Oh, and then in the year 2015, when UFO is released on HD-DVD,
Space:1999 fans will again be complaining that the Space:1999
HD-DVDs were produced using 10 year old technology... :-)
