UFO DVDs

Griff!
Hi All :)

I don't have time to write to this list that often, but I thought I would just
say the following:

Today, I received my UFO Series 1 DVD Collectors Edition, together with UFO Vol
I & II DVD's. As someone who just about remembers UFO the first time round
(well, only just), I have to say that watching UFO on DVD was like seeing it for
the first time. The clarity, colours, details really have been bought out in
sharp relief, and have made me realise and appreciate the work of Gerry Anderson
and his wonderful team even more. I guess it is how Gerry, Sylvia, Bob Bell,
Derek Meddings et al would have wanted it shown if the technology had been
available at the time of shooting. I videoed the live transmissions, bought the
videos, but DVD by comparison just completely blows them out of the water... I'm
just bowled over, and as someone on the list said, it was quite an emotional
experience after all this time.

Carlton and I understand BBC digital? who did the digital re-mastering have done
an amazing job. Watching the first eight episodes today (I had to take the day
off), I have seen and heard things that I have never been able to see or hear
before. UFO on DVD is a complete revelation and brings a completely new
perspective even to one to thought he knew the whole series audibly and visibly
by heart. It's almost like being there...

I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who appreciates the UFO series to bite
the bullet, buy a DVD player/or PC DVD player, buy the DVD series and appreciate
the whole thing as it was meant to be seen.

Best to all,

Griff Wason
