I think it's brilliant the way A QUESTION OF PRIORITIES ends on such a downer. If the BBC attempted to end a DOCTOR WHO episode on such a low they would be swamped with complaints from viewers. Situations that warrant an unhappy ending shouldn't be neatly tied up with a ribbon bow.

Agreed, they'd never end a Doctor Who like that but the latest Torchwood reminded me of 'A Question of Priorities' in a lot of ways. Wonder if RussellT is a UFO fan? |

Wonder if Russell T is a UFO fan? > Warning: Torchwood: Children of Earth spoilers follow * My thoughts exactly. I just caught up with the final episode of Torchwood: Children of Earth last night, and thought that similarities between Torchwood & SHADO were much in evidence. However, there is a key difference in that Captain Jack forced his grandsonto act as the portal for the aliens destruction (knowing he would die), whereas in QofP it is Straker's inability / inaction to override normal SHADOoperations (whilst quietly hoping for the best) that sadly leads to his son's death. Whilst I have enjoyed Torchwood's run, I can't help feeling that the world this series (& the current run of Doctor Who) portrays is unealistic. With so many alien related events / destruction / disruptions, our way of life, religions & civilisation would long ago have disappeared under the weight of the culture shock these would cause. UFO's strength is that these dangers are recognised, leading to the implementation of secrecy regarding both the threat and the defensive measures employed. |

Hi Grant,
I don't know if Russell T is a UFO fan either, but surely he must be impressed by the special effects done at a time when there was no such thing as CGI. Don't you think a lot of CGI just looks crap? What are your favourite episodes of UFO?
