Hi all,
Well, 2 weeks have passed for our UFO episode discussions on "KILL STRAKER!", so it's now time to move onto the next episode up for discussion: SUB-SMASH If anyone would like to comment on this episode, please do! And if you need to rewatch the episode before commenting, you've got 2 weeks to do it! -- Marc Martin, [hidden email] |
Sub-Smash is one of my all time fav UFO eps. The story has a ton of human interest in the character interactions - that look Foster gives Straker when he is forced to leave the stricken sub is fabulous! I also liked the fact Straker and Nina are honest with each other, and we of course learn about Straker's claustrophobia. It's an all around great eps with good S/F and model work, plus great character development. On an aside, one of the things I always liked about UFO, period, was like TOS, many eps focussed on character development. In many cases, SHADO itself and the alien threat were the backdrop against which we viewed these people struggling with what the secret war has done to their lives. The show has many such thoughtful eps. Pam |
The big disappointment in SUB SMASH was that we didn't
get to see Nina swim out underwater... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! GeoCities - quick and easy web site hosting, just $8.95/month. http://geocities.yahoo.com/ps/info1 |

Pam made me realise that althoough I am an avid fan of the hardware in UFO (and other Anderson series), the episodes I like best in UFO are the character development ones - Question of Priorities, Confetti Check, Court Martial, Sub Smash etc.
David Womby (working my way through the series - got as far as the one with the *$%&@ alienminded cat which has to be one of the worst episodes IMHO) |
