Well only if everything else was truly in keeping with the original,might I overlook it.
But if they were to go that far,I think the blonde hair would almost certainly feature.
And as somebody else said Straker and his blonde hair is an iconic image synonomous with UFO.
On the other hand we might find the blonde wig the only concession to adherents of the old series.

As long as a good story is told, it matters little to me what it'll look like. However, the geek in me wants a little bit a cheese factor and nods to the old series.

I think that's why I enjoyed the new "Star Trek" movie... good story, little bit of cheese and homage to the original series, cartoons and movies.

I think the idea of timeshifting it forward is a good one, then it won't
suffer from the problem that Enterprise and the new Star Trek prequel have
of supposedly earlier equipment looking more "modern" than in the original.
