UFO / Gerry Anderson movies

J Ramage
This is slightly off topic and I apologise to Marc in advance, but I thought
about this whilst skimming over some of the discussions on 'changing UFO's
premise' etc.

It just occurred to me that the one thing that WOULD make a good
movie-remake would be Space: 1999, [though what would you call it?] I was
actually watching the first episode 'Breakaway' to get into the mood for the
Doctor Who book I'm trying to write, and started thinking that, with a
different cast and maybe a bit of updating, it could make for quite a good
sci-fi thriller. The whole setup of trying to find out what was causing the
astronauts to go weird could still work, with the character of Dr Helena
Russell trying to persuade the authorities that she is right. I've always
thought that with a younger actress in the role the programme could have
been much, much better. And unlike UFO, whose appeal is greatly enhanced by
the setting, the old fashioned special effects and 60s styles, and which
would, as Marc and the others have said, be ruined by modernisation, Space:
1999 might not be so different. As I said, it could even turn out better.

Anyway, as I said, this is off-topic, but I felt the urge to share!
