Hi all,
Here's some more UFO fandom history of sorts... |
Marc-
The link for the color photos leads to the black and white photos as well... And since these are simply the scans of the ads, they are in black&white as well. You can tell the black&white photos from the color photos by the codes shown below the photos -- codes which start with "BU" are black&white photos, and codes which start with "CU" are color photos. Thanks for the post! I too found S.I.G. and CENTURY 21 too late to take
advantage of the ads. Did these photos end up in any of the recent DVD sets? Actually, somewhat off the subject, are the UK PAL sets much better than the A&E sets when it comes to extras? I know that the A&E "photos" are just frame grabs, but the commentaries are the same, correct? The UK DVDs only have the IDENTIFIED and SUBSMASH commentaries, so the A&E DVDs are better since they've got those KILL STRAKER and TIMELASH commentaries. Also, the A&E sets have more of the unused audio/video extras than the UK sets. The UK sets are much stronger on things like behind-the-scenes photos, publicity photos, merchandise photos, script excerpts from deleted scenes, character bios, cast bios, etc. Also they've got much better menus. One of these days (if I ever get around to it), I'm going to write up a comparison of all the various UFO DVD sets, as each one has something unique to it! And no, I don't think very many (if any) of the photos offered by Polly Products appeared on any of the DVD sets. The DVD sets have different photos. (which sort of indicates that there must be a vast, nearly unlimited supply of UFO photos out there, although for the most part companies seem to use the same ones over and over). Also, the photos on the UK DVDs are dissappointing in that they only take up about a quarter of the screen (poor resolution). There are examples of this on my website, BTW. Marc |

BTW, do you know how many issues of SIG featured articles on UFO? If possible I'd like and try to complete my collection (you might still be able to find back issues of SIG at the larger SF conventions -- I believe that's where I got mine). Doug |

Marc,
I wonder if I could ask you a big favour?? Would it be possible for you to do some scans of Mike Billington's interview from FAB 10, and post it up, I would be enternally grateful to you, as this will help me in my research..... Many thanks Carie. |

It's my general policy to NOT post things from FAB magazine unless I get permission from Fanderson first. Also, I should check and see if FAB 10 is still available as a back issue -- if it's not, then I suspect they won't mind. Marc |
I went to fanderson first, but that issue isn't available anymore,
hence why I have come to you once again, I would be very grateful, as this would be a great help to me, I appreciate your position on this, and would not be offended if you feel you couldn't do this. Regards, Carie |

Dear All,
As far as I know, Phil Rae gave his original negatives to Paolo Malaguti in the mid 90's. The following page http://digilander.libero.it/quattroamiche1/teresa1/ufo/photocatalogue/catalogue.htm - hosted on my website - shows (and offers) many of them! teresa ISOSHADO ----- Original Message ----- |

> I went to fanderson first, but that issue isn't available anymore,
> hence why I have come to you once again The Michael Billington interview is no longer available in FAB 10, but it does appear in the currently available "FAB Yearbook 1": http://www.fanderson.org.uk/fansales/fansale2.html#Books This version is even better, as it features more photos, and color photos! This yearbook also features interviews with UFO actor Harry Baird, and UFO director Alan Perry. But I did ask Fanderson about reprinting the version that's in FAB 10, and did get it, but with my overloaded schedule, you might be better off buying that FAB Yearbook.... there have been things on my to-do list for YEARS.... :-/ Marc |
I have that issue in my collection and if Fanderson said yes to you Marc and unless they say no to me I'd be happy to copy it for you if you send me a SASE and a not saying what issue you want.
The best way would be to buy the FAB yearbook though as it has more material and looks cool on the shelf or magazine box. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marc Martin <[hidden email]> Date: Tuesday, January 20, 2004 10:24 am Subject: [SHADO] Re: Michael Billington interview > The Michael Billington interview is no longer available in FAB 10, > but it does appear in the currently available "FAB Yearbook 1": > But I did ask Fanderson about reprinting the version that's in FAB > 10, and did get it, but with my overloaded schedule, you might be > better off buying that FAB Yearbook.... there have been things on > my to-do list for YEARS.... :-/ > Marc |
Hi,
I am the person that asked Marc for the Mike interview, I would be grateful if you could do that for me with permission of course. All the best Carie [hidden email] wrote: I have that issue in my collection and if Fanderson said yes to you Marc and unless they say no to me I'd be happy to copy it for you if you send me a SASE and a not saying what issue you want. |
I haven't heard anything against copying the interview so sure.
My mailing address is Phil Merkel PO Box 1134 Sound Beach, NY 11789-0966 and remind me in the mail which interview and issue. Send a self addressed stamped envelope. i have the usa dvd set and i love it. the timelash commentary is mostly
fashion opinions from sylvia anderson and wanda ventham(sp). i heard it and laughed out loud. like a fashion commentary was more important than a technical commentary. scott [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Sheesh! I just hit reply to this and didn't realize it was going out to SHADO. I meant to send it to the author and not the list. Sorry Marc! Okay everyone! Send me a postcard! ; - ) Talking about YAHOO GROUPS I've been pretty happy overall with the features, there seems to be so many compared to an old style email list. But also the big difference I've noticed over the years is today a lot of people just don't know to edit their posts compared to the old text only 2600baud modem days. Perhaps the front end web pages make it all too easy???? Maybe an automatic preview of email before it is sent? But, even with the aggravation of being an owner and a moderator (And the heat that position generates....imagine accusing my parents of never being married! ((Didn't happen of SHADO))) when I look at other lists hit with porno webcam ads, tremendous reply to errors (This happens on the SFTV lists a lot) and the rest I'm kind of pleased with some of the functions of YAHOO. I HATE the ads though and I'd be happy to pay to have them removed. I don't think they've offered that option yet, have they? And I just got the Secret Service DVD set today and watched a couple of episodes. Lots of UFO content in there, in each episode I saw they used the same road the UFO chased the Rolls down in Identified and the music at times is Very Familiar! And there is a glossy ad in the Cards Inc catalog for the new UFO cards. It's probably on their website too but if it isn't I could scan it and upload it to the files section if there is a demand for it. I'm guessing a lot of us already get this catalog. Hmmm another plus up from the old listserv days. |
