As we are on the subject of UFO related Websites...mine has been around for a while.
Just to let you know it is about to undergo some important updates. My interest however is in the models used on UFO particularly the Model UFO Saucer itself. If this is partially your area of interest,I can quite categorically say I know more about this model than anyone else (except perhaps some of the model makers from Slough who sadly remain very..very quiet on the subject) For instance, take the discussion about whether the Model UFO had 15 or 16 vanes. The Magazine Sci-fi and Fantasy Models did a special on UFO and said quite specifically that the model UFO has 16 vanes and that the mistake of 15 vanes (an asymmetrical gap as it was termed) was made due to a photo showing a model that had one of its vanes accidentally broken off.Not only, but that they had blueprints provided by Phil Rae (Researcher for SFX Magazine) that indeed show the original model did in fact have 16 not 15 vanes. My source is more reliable:namely the episodes themselves.Factually speaking the model may have been designed by Derek Meddings with 16 vanes, but it was never filmed that way.It was built with 16 vanes, but a vane was always broken off,and its easy to understand why. My website (if this is even of limited interest) is: www.geocities.com/elder7uk A couple of extra things I need to say.Firstly at the top of my website it obviously says UFO.This caption was taken from Marc Martin's website, without permission.I hope Marc did not mind this small indiscretion, and if it helps I have since accquired the exact font used for UFO and will be replacing it soon.I am quite willing to share this font around for those who may want it.Or again is this lacking in discretion. Additionally on my website (which is graphically very basic) I mention that Mike Trim had something to do with the design of the Model UFO.Indeed he may have, however I can find no information that confirms this ,or remember why I said it in the first place..This statement will be altered in due course. Heh, well I certainly don't mind you taking the word "UFO" from my site! I think I used Eurostyle Extended Bold. I believe that this is the exact font used in UFO, or if not it's "close enough". :-) I purchased this font back in 1991 for $80 for my Macintosh, although these days I see that Eurostyle is included for free with Windows XP. Also, Fanderson has a seemingly quite accurate font for the UFO title: http://www.fanderson.org.uk/epguides/ufoeg.html Marc |
