UFO SCHEDULES ON UK TV 1973 ATV

Mark Davies-3
Now this a long shot, but I can't think of where else to go.Its just possible someone might know.

I,ve been recently collecting TV TIMES for the Midlands ATV region from 1970-1973.This is connected obviously
to my interest in UFO and how each week when the TV TIMES was on sale I would ride as mad as hell to the newsagent to
find out what the next episode of UFO was to be broadcast. Its just a fantastic nostalgia trip to see these old TV TIMES again
with UFO in the schedules.Magic days.

Anyway I live in Hereford near the Welsh border. In 1973 UFO was broadcast by ATV (repeat showings) on a Sunday at about lunchtime
1-15pm after a programme called Weekend World and before Star Soccer. It started broadcasting in the first week of the new year and then
ran on for a number of months, as I recall April/May time.

I recently purchased 2 copies of the ATV/MIDLANDS edition of the TV TIMES for weeks in January and February 1973 (I've recently sold them again),but
UFO is not in the schedules.Hereford was always covered by ATV transmissions, and my memory is very good on this issue, because I,ve got other copies of
the TV TIMES ATV/MIDLANDS from 1970 and 1971 with UFO in the schedules, just as I expected.

Now there are other reasons why I remember very well UFO ws broadcast by ATV in 1973 on Sunday,s (I won't go into them because it involves a lot of detail)
But where have the episodes gone.I have one possible solution which I need confirmed.Despite my best efforts trawling the internet and looking on e-bay I can't seem to find anything out.I have a vague memory that for a short period ATV may have produced two regional variations of the TV TIMES.One for ATV/MIDLANDS and another for ATV/SOUTH WEST or some such variation.Another clue I have that this might be the case is the fact that the Episodes The Long Sleep and The Responsibility Seat are said to have been broadcast first on ATV/MIDLANDS on Thursday nights on 15th and 8th of March 1973.

Athough I recall them being shown on Thursday's,March is far to early, because it would have collided with the Sunday showings.UFO ws NEVER shown twice in one week.I beleive therefore they were shown later in the year on Thursday nights by ATV regionally in the SOUTH/WEST .

So my question is this (and I apologise if none of this means anything to anyone) can anyone confirm that there was a regional variation of the TV TIMES covering
the ATV/ SOUTH WEST around 1972/1973.

I know there was a HTV/WEST edition of the TV TIMES but I'm not talking about that. This would have been an ATV tranmission.

If there was no such variation, then I'm left with a huge mystery. That or I,ve gone completely mad or I,ve experienced my own TIMELASH and am in a different
continuum.

I don't know if this is of any help, but I have the ATV transmission
dates and running order for the first run of UFO. ATV was the first
British tv franchise to broadcast UFO, and it was done fairly
erratically as well.

IDENTIFIED: 16/9/70
EXPOSED: 2/9/70
THE CAT WITH TEN LIVES: 30/9/70
CONFLICT: 7/10/70
A QUESTION OF PRIORITIES: 14/10/70
E.S.P.: 21/10/70
KILL STRAKER!: 4/11/70
SUB-SMASH: 11/11/70
DESTRUCTION: 2/12/70
THE SQUARE TRIANGLE: 9/12/70
CLOSE UP: 16/12/70
THE PSYCHOBOMBS: 30/12/70
SURVIVAL: 6/1/71
MINDBENDER: 13/1/71
FLIGHT PATH: 20/1/71
THE MAN WHO CAME BACK: 3/2/71
THE DALOTEK AFFAIR: 10/2/71
TIMELASH: 17/2/71
ORDEAL: 24/4/71
COURT MARTIAL: 1/5/71
COMPUTER AFFAIR: 15/5/71
CONFETTI CHECK A-OK: 10/7/71
THE SOUND OF SILENCE: 17/7/71
REFLECTIONS IN THE WATER: 24/7/71
THE RESPONSIBILITY SEAT: 8/3/73
THE LONG SLEEP: 15/3/73

This information comes from Chris Bentley's book, "The Complete
UFO". It's interesting to note ATV's screening order, which
deviates substantially from ITC's recommended list.
