Skydiver was mentioned in an article about the USA's DARPA project
Cormorant, Submarine/Sea-Launched and Recovered Multi-Purpose Unmanned
Aerial Vehicle (MPUAV). Quite a mouthful but it is essentially a
little unmanned aerial vehicle that launches from underwater (sort
of). It is dumped into the water by surface ship or ejected from a
submarine and it's launcher floats until called upon to take off from
the surface with a pair of cruise missile rocket engines, after which
it flies its mission then splashes down to be recovered directly or by
another submarine ROV. Pretty cool. The article also references
Marc's site for the Skydiver image and also refers to the Voyage to
the Bottom of the Sea 'flying sub'. It can be found here on the
