As a professional musician I listen to sound a lot, and one of the
weirdest I've heard is that of the UFOs as they fly. Of course in
reality the eerie sounds were generated - so I believe - by Barry Gray
using sweep oscillators and an ondes Martinot (electronic musical
instrument based on the ever-popular Theremin), but one of my projects
is to emulate the now classic UFO engine effects by using modern
equipment. I'll let you know how I get along with it - hopefully I'll
be able to post some interesting audio clips for you at SHADO!
