UFO Soundtrack 40th Anniversary Edition

Hi All :)

I received today the new UFO Soundtrack 40th Anniversary Edition

JUST BRILLIANT AND UTTERLY FANTASTIC!!!!!!

At last... AT LAST I have in my possession all the music I ever wanted fromUFO. After all these years and years and years... since I was knee-high toa grasshopper.

[ed] I have to still track down the non-Barry Gray incidental music from, "The Responsibility Seat" I heard in a hotel in Bologna, Italy... but that'sanother story.

All I can say is a HUGE and I mean HUGE "THANK YOU" to ALL that made this CD set happen. You have my eternal and undying thanks!!

Did you have the initial release?

I saw on the Fanderson discussion group that the stereo masters for
IDENTIFIED and THE LONG SLEEP are still missing, and the mono tapes from
these episodes are still incomplete, although they cheated a bit by
using the episode "music and effects" track from THE LONG SLEEP to add a
few extra pieces of music.

I had seriously thought about spending some of my hard earned cash on this CD, but I am still waiting for my membership to come through for Fanderson - and they took the  money from my account on Nov 19th! Won't be getting  a UFO key ring for Christmas at this rate. :-(
Bit disappointing really. Or am I expecting too much?  Andersoniccame two days after I ordered it and I half expected Fanderson to be more efficient.
Anyone else had problems?

I understand that one can order the exclusive Fanderson Sales items
at the same time they send in their application, but I guess it's too
late for that information to be useful to you now. :-(

Otherwise, you could find a contact email address on their website
and ask what you can do now to order items.

It may be that you don't receive anything from Fanderson until the
next issue of their magazine comes out?

Nov 19th Fanderson email to say they have accepted my payment.
 
I have now waited , and waited , and waited. Have sent them two emails.
 
Can anyone tell me? Does Fanderson still exist? I think the film will be out before I get my membership!!

I think it took around 3 weeks for me to receive my new soundtrack, although
most of that was probably postal mailing time back and forth.

Now that I've listened to the whole thing, I can say that this new soundtrack
is definitely better than the original release. I was a bit critical of
the original release, because I thought it was missing too many memorable
pieces of music from the series, and instead had a lot of "unused music".
This release eliminates all of the unused music and replaces it with the
music that should have been there to start with (I think the original
reasoning was that much of this music was originally created for
previous Gerry Anderson series, and that these tracks should appear
on those soundtrack CDs, not this one)

Also, I was critical of a few of the stereo remixes which didn't sound
much like the original music. My biggest complaint was the fast paced
music where Foster gets roughed up by thugs in EXPOSED (also Foster
escaping in COURT MARTIAL), but I think they've remixed that track
for this release to sound closer to the original (I haven't done
a direct comparison -- that was just my first impression).

I suppose if you cannot get a response from Fanderson via the email
address you are using, you could try posting something on the
Fanderson forum, where more than one person will potentially see it:

But they are definitely still in business -- I received my CD just
the other day!

Hi Louise,

This is very odd, as everything I have ordered from Fanderson has always arrived very promptly, and living on a very small island, getting any post here is a challenge, believe me...

I think Marc's suggestion is best...

I am not defending Fanderson (as I don't think they need it) here, but a few things to consider:

- You may be a victim of the post (it could have got lost, backlog, Xmas, and strikes... don't know where you live)
- I believe all the Fanderson sales despatches are done by one person
- There is a lot of cold and flu around at the moment - esp in the UK
- Fanderson is run by unpaid volunteers, it's not a business...

Fingers crossed your UFO CD set arrives soon... it's worth waiting for.
