UFO & Space 1999 Tie-in

Hi,i'm a great fan of UFO,i remember watching it as a child,now can
anyone tell me,i remember reading a segment of Starlog magazine with
Gerry Anderson talking about the Mark IX Hawk from Space 1999,about
how those ships were made for the UFO attacks of the 1980's,and how
Moonbase became Moonbase Alpha,now is this UFO lore or Gerry Anderson
just talking???

Yes, there was something written about this in Starlog magazine.
However, that wasn't really written by Gerry Anderson -- it was
written by David Hirsch, I believe. I once asked David about this,
and he admitted that he just made that up himself. So this did
not come from Gerry.
