Hi,
I would think that the Interceptor bays are fairly close to Moonbase as they have to scramble, launch, vector into firing position and then launch their missiles. SID only seems to give a few minutes warning so time would count. Does anyone know how far away SID can detect an incoming UFO? What does it use, radar? Sonar? a laser sensor grid?
The Interceptor pilots do not wear pressure suits in the Interceptors so would they take them off after entering the Interceptor? I beleive the slide exits directly into the bay and the pilot enters the Interceptor like a fighter plane.
As for the movie, the plot should update the show with "next generation" hardware but continue the old theme. I saw Matrix-reloaded last night and wondred what CGI artists would do to a UFO movie. Would moonbase launch hundreds of interceptors to stop thousand's of UFO's? or would the alien invasion consist of hordes of aliens to be fought by company after company of SHADO infantry?
I hope the group can make it's presence felt in the planning so a total revamping doesn't happen.
