UFO Vanes 15/16?

Mark Davies-3
There were clearly headaches getting the UFO to spin.Derek Meddings on the UFO documentary almost goes out of his way to mention how much of a problem they were
to fly.Dispensing with one vane may have assisted with this, and then it may of been a case of it looking better that way by accident,if you see what I mean.So they just dispensed with it altogether. We know that plasticine was used in between the vanes to stabilise it.You can even see this in some shots. However I don,t think it was used all of the time and,so possibly another solution was found.
Regarding the switch,I don,t think there would have been a switch on the model.A power line ran through the top,so its likely there was an external switch system.
If anyone has an opportunity to speak with Mike Trim at a convention,he might be the best person to solve this mystery.

Marc,
There is a photo of the top and bottom view of the UFO model in the
Japanese book that that came out in the 80's. I don't know the name as its the
one with the name all in Japanese but its not the Town Moak one. The one that
is the size of a thick paperback book about 3x5 and sold for 650
yen(originally) with the serial number 8376-R1006-8909 under the price on the frontcover
just below the photo of Lt. Harrington holding the clipboard. Any the view
clearly shows the missing vane and that from the bottom you can see a slot where
one would have been if it had been installed. This is on page 126.

Yes, but there have been magazine articles which discount these photos,
because they said that the Japanese were given a UFO model which had
previously had one of its vanes broken off during filming.
