Hi,
I've just been watching the new 'Dr. Who Confidential' TV programme which shows "behind the scenes" film of the cast and crew preparing for shots of both characters and special effects, also interviews with them about the episode. I couldn't help thinking how lucky the fans are to have such a record and it made me wonder if any "behind the scenes" film of UFO exists. I imagine anything that is out there would be 'unofficial', but people had cine film cameras in those days! Maybe in all the film sources used to produce the UFO DVDs, some film might have been found other than the actual episodes? Sarah (UK) P.S. For those of you that haven't seen the new Dr Who, the daleks really can go up stairs!!! Wonder how the diehard fans took that?! |
Well, we saw one go upstairs in an Remembrance Of The Daleks so it isn't the
first time they did that :o) Cheers, Lesleyxx > Hi, > > I've just been watching the new 'Dr. Who Confidential' TV programme > which shows "behind the scenes" film of the cast and crew preparing > for shots of both characters and special effects, also interviews > with them about the episode. > > I couldn't help thinking how lucky the fans are to have such a > record and it made me wonder if any "behind the scenes" film of UFO > exists. > > I imagine anything that is out there would be 'unofficial', but > people had cine film cameras in those days! With all the fuss being made about it, it seemed this was a totally new experience! The dalek was being taunted in the episode because it was apparent the characters thought it couldn't climb stairs. Does this mean the writers/ producers didn't do their research properly?? IRO behind the scenes footage of UFO, I suppose if any had been found, it would have included it as extras with the DVDs. There are some still photographs on the Carlton set and the anecdotes Gerry Anderson and Ed Bishop relate in their commentaries. I don't have the A&E sets and I would love to hear the commentaries by Mike Billington/ Alan Perry and Wanda Ventham/ Sylvia Anderson. Do either of these commentaries have any interesting stories that someone would be willing to describe here? Sarah (UK) |

Not really - remember that the characters had never seen a Dalek before, even if the viewers had. Although I do think that that particular scene was a nod to the old jokes about Daleks not being able to follow you upstairs, I don't think the fact that it had been done before was indicative of a lack of research. Has anyone ever written a UFO/Dalek crossover? :D |
