UFO books

Stuart
I recently bought UFO-1 Flesh Hunters off ebay. How many books are
there in the series and what are the titles?

Re: UFO books

There is one other book, UFO 2 but i forgot the title beyond that, also
written by Robert Miall. I remember liking the UFO novels a bit better
than the original Space 1999 novels. There are online editions of the
novelizations that go beyond #2 and while I never got around to reading
them I really enjoyed the work that went into the covers.

(Actually I looked it up! here is the link!)

As for new UFO novels, Fanderson put out the question a few months ago
about whether or not this list was interested in new UFO novels. I forget
what the consensus was on that, it kind of went into a discussion on why
it's difficult to order from them. At the time I remember the UFO script
book put out by Fanderson was doing poorly.

Last Friday night on Destinies, the Voice of Science Fiction (A local SF
radio show for me) Howard Margolin had publisher Mateo Latosa on the air
for an hour discussing the POWYS media line of new Space 1999
novels. Howard had read The Forsaken (And interviewed John Muir) and was
impressed by it and also had met POWYS writer Bill Latham at a convention a
few weeks prior.

While he was discussing the book line with Mateo he brought up the idea of
new UFO novels but Mateo isn't interested in that right now. POWYS media
did secure the rights to do new novels based on the classic ITC series The
Prisoner though. Anyone around here interested in The Prisoner?

So two "classic" UFO novelizations out now, more if you consider the UK
editions. I think there may be editions in other countries as well. If
fanderson moves ahead with new UFO novels there will be some new ones
coming. In the meantime there is the comic book coming up which should be
alright. I bought and read the first Supercar one and it was pretty good.

And there was also that Japanese Manga comic version of UFO which had
updated a bunch of the ships (More than one missle on the Interceptors I
think I remember) I'd love to see those translated and put in an omnibus
edition!

One more thing I forgot to mention, you can find these pretty cheap off of
ABEBOOKS.com

by searching under Robert Miall you can avoid typing in UFO and thus
getting 1,000's of hits on UFO books but not the type of UFO book you're
looking for.

My search brought up 68 books for Robert (He did one for The Protectors,
The Adventurer and Jason King as well!) and the UFO titles are Flesh
Hunters and Sporting Blood. I see some copies for sale as low as $2.00 not
including postage!
