Just found this posted on Fanderson!! can't remember who posted it though!
So, there I was in my office at 8.00 printing artwork off for my daughter... don't ask! Hmm....While the photocopier was warming up I decided to call " New Deal Studios " in California. " God afternoon, New Deal Studios, my name is Christie, how may I help?" So after explaining that I was calling from the UK I asked the question that we all want to ask: " Is it true that your studio is making a movie version of Gerry Anderson'sfantastic TV series, UFO?" "YES" was the enthusiastic reply. I couldn't get past Christie but she confirmed that they are still in pre-production and that they are hoping to " Lock-Down " a start to filming verysoon. That was all she was allowed to say. Very nice young lady by the way. Well, every little bit of information helps. Cheered me up no end that call... Hope it cheers you Earthlings up too. |
Matches what is on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1443799/

Yes, it does match. But the point is that the IMDb entry hasn't been updated since November, and folks have been wondering if the project is still planned, or had been delayed or scrapped.

There is a rumour.... just a rumour though, on Fanderson, that Neil McDonough might have been cast as Straker. --- In [hidden email], "leo_loves_ufo_1999" <leo_loves_ufo_1999@...>wrote: > > ...I certainly hope that a UFO Film is finally about to come together, & happen; I've been waiting for a VERY long time...! Now, that I would love to see; I loved him on Medical Investigations;
I think I was one of five people to watch that show. Evelyn Duncan [hidden email] "All work and no play pretty much sums it up, doesn't it?" -- Tim Hunter In a message dated 4/11/2010 4:38:41 A.M. That would be an excellent choice, I think.

Well, it would be just at the most superficial level -- blonde hair, blue eyes. :-) I just can't see this guy succeed at playing "Straker" -- at least not the Straker I know and love... :-) (all actors have some "range" of things that they can play) Perhaps someone can recommend a film/TV appearance of his that would be indicative that he can? But he is a "name" actor (I guess), and they were looking for that... Marc |

I have seen him on some television show a couple of years ago that had him as a leader of a medical group that went out to different parts of the country for possible disease outbreaks. He played the head doctor. He was very good. I forgot the name of the show because it was only for a few weeks. I guess it didn't have what the public wanted in a show. I thought it was good because I was looking forward to it every week. He showed some emotion in the show about being divorced due to the hours of his job. I emailed the people who are making the movie and highly suggested him for the role. I didn't think they would actually pay attention to anything I emailed them about.
