James, in response to your question about the ownership of UFO's
copyright, given the situation with the German banker, I contacted Helen Weber, who contact Ed Bishop. His response is quite... interesting! ------- Gerry just told me that Phillip had acquired the rights from Carlton. He did not go into detail. At this stage I don't feel I could approach Phillip for any specific details. I would make an educated guess that if Carlton had plans in the pipeline to release any UFO 1 merchandising - then that would proceed quite seperately from any new arrangements. After all any interest generated in UFO 1 is bound to be beneficial to UFO2! From what Phillip told me when we met,I would assume that he purchased ALL the rights to UFO. He talked about music, merchandising, the internet and all possible outlets for the project, so it is a safe bet that if the pilot works, he will be able to proceed straight to a series without having to go back to Carlton and seek further rights. That is my educated guess. ------- Marc |

Would Philip being a UFO fan mean he won't object to our UFO sites? And do we have to change the notices on our sites to 'all rights owned by Philip' or some such, rather than Carlton? Although I assume Philip is not the legal owner, but a company - may be one he just set up or one he owned already. This thing has quite a lot of side issues, doesn't it.... CU Lieve Col. I wonder if this may put a snag in the hopeful issue by A&E of UFO.
Of course as has been said here before, a poor response from Thunderbird DVD's could make this a moot point. On the plus side this could mean the new rights owners may release all the episodes on DVD in an effort to promote the new movie. > At 17:29 18/02/01 -0700, you wrote: > >James, in response to your question about the ownership of UFO's > >copyright, given the situation with the German banker, I contacted > >Helen Weber, who contact Ed Bishop.
