UFO on Blu-ray in Germany (again)

Hi all,

I just saw some information indicating that UFO will be coming out on Blu-ray in Germany... again.

Not sure if this release will really be in HD or not -- UFO was previously released on Blu-ray in Germany 2 years ago, but the episodes were all in standard definition PAL.

This time the episodes are being released by Epix.  (www.epix.de).  Can't recall what company did the previous release.

Okay, I've now confirmed that Epix is indeed working on a new UFO Blu-ray, and that they will
be using the same masters that were used for the Japanese UFO Blu-rays.  I've also alerted
them to the most major complaints about the Japanese Blu-rays in case they can do something
to fix those.  Things like the aspect ratio switch on ORDEAL, the lack of sepia-tinting on THE
LONG SLEEP, and the unbelievable amount of "film dirt" that has not been cleaned up in
THE CAT WITH TEN LIVES.

And since this has not been officially announced yet, I don't have any other details about
this release.  Guess we'll just have to wait and see.  I imagine it will be much less
expensive than the Japanese release.  :-)

Update on the German Blu-ray:

Here is the listing on Amazon.de, along with the cover artwork:

  http://www.amazon.de/UFO-Gesamtedition-Blu-ray/dp/B00NMXE0N0/

Release date is November 28, 2014.

Contains 6 discs, encoded as region B (Europe, but not USA).

Same transfer as the Japanese UFO Blu-rays, but as you can see from the Amazon listing, much less expensive.

Contains a mono German track, and a mono English track.  No English 5.1 track.

There was a fan attempt to get the company to address some of the reported problems with the Japanese set, but it sounds like the only issue that will be fixed is the missing sepia-tint in THE LONG SLEEP.  Otherwise, it will still have the same problems as the Japanese set.

In terms of extras, it doesn't sound like there will be any video extras on the discs, but there will be a booklet and a SHADO patch.  :-)
