Movie studios have been doing that for decades. For example, I believe I remember them showing the dress that Judy Garland wore in the Wizard of Oz popping up on another actress in another movie. This is back in the late 1930's.
They even reused the same set from King Kong for Gone with the Wind Crazy you say I am?? The Kong Island set, the one with the big wall, they burnt down for the burning of Atlanta scene :)

I wonder when and what precise year (or decade) programme makers stopped using and stealing props from this highly esteemed show? Pretty sure I saw a console in an even earlier DW season with J Pertwee with The Master. I know for sure the SHADO coms device crops up as part of a cryonics lab in "The Champions!"

I have just been watching Dr who The stones of Blood 1978 and i'm sure part of the sapce ship console is the one used on moonbase. Then i put on Morecambe & Wise from 1971 and they both do a sketch where they are wearing UFO space suits except the helmets are red not yellow. Hows that for coincidence
