As a person who self hosts his own multimedia website who is also in the broadband installation business, yes 30 megs for a couple of minutes is too large. 3 megs sounds more like it.
Right now I am learning about hi def video, now those numbers are totally ridiculous to deal with.
Like I said, dealing with video, I make a couple of copies, one for those with small bandwidth, and one copy for those who can handle or don't mind the wait for larger size files.

It's just a few minutes... certainly I could have reduced the resolution
or the bitrate to reduce the file size, but it was just something I rushed
out... and these days, I'm not sure that I would even consider 30 mb that
large of a file (?)
