This source says A&E plans on doing UFO as well. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html I didn't see anything at the A&E website about this yet. The info from the DigitalBits websitie is usually accurate. Hopefully this is true. Ron |

(December?) Just my luck. I get a multi-standard DVD player and the stuff comes out on NTSC anyway! Not to rub anyone's noses in it, but the PAL discs will probably be a better bet anyway, providing you're willing to wait. Firstly, the extra 100 lines of resolution make a difference, and the 24 (film) to 25 (TV) transfer frame rate is smoother than the 24 to 30 of NTSC. Having said that, I've splashed out on all of A&E's discs of The Avengers and they are gorgeous (apart from the annoying placing of the layer transition on all of the '67 discs). There's also the question of what extras A&E will have available to them. We (Fanderson) are working with Carlton to get the extras count up on the Thunderbirds and other ITC discs up, and some goodies within the packaging too, but whether these will be available with the US releases I don't know. By the way, fellow DVD-equipped SHADOers may be interested to know that the Space Precinct DVDs just released appear to be code-free (ie, region 0). I only noticed the other day after playing an R1 disc, then popping Precinct in the player and it started OK (I have to tell my player what region disc I'm playing). Of course, I cannot be held responsible if you buy the discs only to find they don't work in your machine, which is why I say they "appear" to be code-free!! So, providing your player/TV is PAL compatible, some lovely uncut and clear Space Precinct can be yours. |

Looking at the back of the case it doesn't tell you whether it's region 1 or 2, so it must be 0. I like the idea of having the spine build up into a wide picture. My only disappointment with the Space Precinct DVD is that there are no subtitles for hard of hearing people like myself. I only hope Carlton will continue to have subtitles on all their forth coming releases as they have been doing with the ITC series. Gary. |

Although some of us (namely myself) are annoyed by the 4% speedup of PAL, especially when applied to Ed Bishop's voice! >There's also the question of what extras A&E will have available to >them. You can add me in the 'us'! I think that his Bishopness' voice deserves to be heard in all it's splendour! (As he deserves to be seen in all his splendour, too, but that's another story! ;-) Please notice that I didn't not even mention the Chipmunks... Oups! I did! ;-) BTW, I got Shadofile #15 from Helen Weber... (The cover on that one sure will/would please some of the guys on this list: *Straker's beauties take a vacation from Moonbase to the Tropics in their futuristic swimwear*, by a Dave McCoy. LOL, it's cute!) Anyway, there's a story in that one by Rick Baker (Rick? You over here?) Anyway, it's good stuff, but the spooky part is that there are 2 Russians Subs lost in the Barents sea in it! 8-0 Aliens got those... --Anny <sad over the fate of those people aboard the Koursk> |
