UK UFO DVD set packaging

Hi all,

It's been brought to my attention that the 2 UFO box sets being
sold in the UK these days do not have the same packaging as
when originally released. When originally released, it was
a carboard foldout that contained the 4 discs, plus there was
postcards and a booklet. Now, it is an outer carboard package
holding 4 individual volumes, each with its own plastic case.
And there are no postcards or booklet.

I was unaware that they made this change -- anyone know when
this change occurred?

I got my box sets in September 2003 (an HMV Biggest Ever Sale) and they were in the first format you mention, although there didn't seem to be any postcards in the second box set, and it seemed a bit trivial to go back and complain. Besides, they didn't have any more of the box set comprising volumes 5 to 8. It didn't seem to be very long after that that the packaging changed as you describe. Perhaps it was cheaper to bring them out in standard format?

The switch from digipak to amaray cases in slip-case happened very
quickly on the second box set - I seem to recollect seeing this
format, 2/3 months after the release date Where as the digipak
arrangement for set one was around for a while longer indicating that
the run for the digipak for set 2 was adjusted in light of sale of
set 1. Both sets are now are in amaray cases/slip case format -
unless old stock can be located.

I did point this change out a while back - seems to me that the
original digipak version particulary set two will start to attract a
premium.
