Unidentified

It surprises me that, even after all this time, there still seem to be certain faces involved with UFO that have yet to have names attached.

For example, there is an extremely attractive black girl who appears in SHADO Control in two of the earlier episodes - yes 'the black no sugar' girl - and who has some dialogue in both.  And yet I can't find her name in the episode credits OR in any books published on the subject or websites.  Now, forgive my ignorance, but I was always of the belief that if you had lines in a film/TV show then you HAD to be credited.  So, who is she?

Similarly, the new Blu-Ray set throws a number of actresses/models into the mix by revealing that they auditioned or screen tested for the series right at the beginning.  Apart from the obvious, several of the girls (and at least one guy!) remain 'unidentified'.  To me, anyway.

Any thoughts?  Or better still, any names...?

I just looked on the SHADO Library, to see if that actress is credited there, but no, it seems that a lot of those SHAOD HQ actresses are uncredited:

Unless someone recognizes an actress from another TV series or film around the same time, we don't have much to go on...

Oh, and are there any obvious people who auditioned for UFO that may not be so obvious to everyone?

Joanna Lumley is one name I've seen mentioned.

Joanna Lumley is, to my knowledge and from the photos I've seen, the most famous person who auditioned for but didn't actually appear in UFO.

The likes of Dolores Mantez and Antonia Ellis are also seen in the screen test shots, along with Shakira Bakhsh and several girls who I don't recognise.  Jon Kelley is seen playing opposite the girls in the screen tests which suggests to me that he had already been cast as Moonbase Commander Jon Karlin at this early stage in the proceedings.  The infamous 'Albino Alien' is also seen in some shots having his make up applied.  To be honest, I think he would have been a bit too scary for the kids of 1970 and so I can see why the idea was dropped.

One of the 'failed' Moonbase girls looks very much like Sally Geeson (of Bless This House fame), but I don't think it's her.  It would be interesting to know whether or not Ms Lumley lost out on the role to Gabrielle Drake or Antonia Ellis.  If the former, then she got her 'revenge' five years later when both she and Ms Drake went up for the role of 'Purdey' in The New Avengers...

It seems from the photos that David Lane may have directed the screen tests, so if anyone can put names to the faces, maybe he can...?  

And the green skinned white eyed intense looking aliens weren't scary for the kids? ;)
