Unofficial UFO anthology list for submitting stories, etc

Hi,

This is a group for an unofficial book of short stories based on the
television series. Due to copyright restrictions for this first anthology
there will be no mention of SHADO, ED STRAKER, etc in the stories. I'm
working on an official book later on. I want to give CARLTON this book to
show them what can be done and hopefully gain their approval for official
releases.
The stories will be themed, and as you can guess it is to do with
resurrection. Writer's guidelines available.

Pardon my ignorance, but how can you do any form of story based on the UFO TV series without mentioning any integral part of the series by name? Fan fiction abounds, not just for UFO, but for many other film and TV series, on the internet, and they don't have any restrictions such as you mention. Also, many fan fiction that turns up in print, AFAIK, seems not to be restricted by copyright restrictions.

It has to be licenced from the company that owns the copyright before it
can be used. I've scrapped the idea for the anthology
as I described until I can get permission to use the characters from the
show. I rather have the characters from the show
and I agree you can't base a book on a show without any mention of the
characters, etc.
