Wallace And Gromit Are GO!

Laughlin, Kent
Hello all. Long time no post-
I just wanted to mention, I watched a Wallace And Gromit episode with my kids last night called...Close Shave, I think. And there's a scene where they get a call for a window washing job, and they get into their motorcycle ala Thunderbirds. And they're playing a very close approximation of the Thunderbirds theme as they're doing it. Pretty neat. One of my kids even noticed it. Made me proud. And for the record, I'm 41 also.

And while I'm here, I wanted to say that was a great interview with Gabby and Ed. But what's with Ed's vocabulary? He seems to make up words as he goes along. "Vulgarious" isn't a word, is it? And I can remember him doing that in interviews in the past. For those of you in the UK, all us Amerrricuns don't do that. Just Ed Bishop and George W. Bush... Back to lurk.

Yeah, I'm also 41.. (ISTR <g>)
'First watched UFO on ATV (original transmission), and still live in the
same TV transmission area, which is now.. Carlton.. so, in a way, UFO is
back home (but currently unavailable..)

Let's hope nobody involved tries to count the number of 41yo's around
here.. :)

Good for you, Amelia! I didn't have my dictionary handy - it must be in
the OED, eh what?

And, oddly, wnough, that ep of Wallace and Gromit ("Close Shave") is the
one and onloy ep I've ever seen! Tigger has it on tape. I never watched
Thunderbirds, so never got that connection ......

Boy, I haven't posted since like, 1980, and what do I get? "Hi Kent!" or
"Welcome back, Kent!" NO! I get "I want Kent dead!" Where's the love? And
when did you become Al Capone?...

Oh hey now, isn't that a bit extreme? I mean kill me maybe, but don't take
away my Starbucks(tm)! It's bad enough what the W.T.O. protesters are doing
to the shops today. Actually, it wasn't my intention to imply that Eddy the
B. was in any way like George dubya. Except for the inventing words bit.
That would have been very presiptuous of me.I mean, simply because they both
invent words doesn't mean they're felonimous in any octipular fashion. You
know? Can I have my Starbucks back?

There's also a reference to Thunderbirds in Chicken Run. They use the
term Operation Coverup to hide their activities from the farmer.

Who the hell are Wallace and Gromit and what have they got to do with a UFO
list? Just because they mentioned Thunderbirds in their show...???
Thunderbirds has nothing to do with UFO either!
Yeah, I'm confused! Explanation please???

And if you only come out of the woodwork to criticise someone because their
vocabulary isn't up to your standard, maybe you'd better remain lurking in
future? It can't be easy having questions thrown at you from a crowd of fans
and having to come up with a believable and interesting answer each time.
Instead of criticising Ed why can't you just be grateful that he was kind
enough to go to a Con and give an interview, and also that we still have him
with us!!!

And how can you compare Ed with the murderer George W. Bush??? It has nothing
to do with nationality, but with points of view. And yours seems to be rather
narrow and unforgiving!

Wallace & Gromit are two characters in a humorous TV fiction series with more
or less Mickey Mouse degree of intelligence. The show is made by animatronics
with plasticene models, not with puppets. It is not by Gerry Anderson.

> Thunderbirds has nothing to do with UFO either!

Thunderbirds and UFO were both made by Gerry Anderson. Some motifs occur in
both: advanced flying and space and submarine craft and oommunications gear;
secretiveness of the organization that runs them.
