Wanda Ventham and Ian Hendry

We all know that Wanda Ventham starred in "UFO" and Ian Hendry
in "Journey to the Far Side of The Sun" (AKA "Doppelganger").

But did you know that they also starred TOGETHER in the 1972 BBC
series "The Lotus Eaters"? Set in Crete.

This has just been released on DVD in the UK but the liner notes have
some excellent stills of the two actors together. I've added these in
pdf format to the files section.

The Lotus Eaters was written by Michael Bird and his autobiography has
contributions from Ventham and well as other stars he worked with
including Joanna Dunham ("Day After Tomorrow - Into Infinity")

Thanks for that! I knew that Wanda Ventham was in The Lotus Eaters,
but for some reason I assumed it was a minor role in movie, not a
major role in a series!

I vaguely remember that being on TV when I was a kid. Didn't know WV was
in it. For some reason at that age, I thought it was called "The Locust
Eaters", so I avoided it.

Marc, I think I'm the reason you thought it was a film. I did a review of it
in one of my Raiders of the Video Vaults articles in the SHADO USECC fanzine.
Due the lack of research material at the time I could only find mention of a
film of that name. The film is apparently nothing like the TV series which
is set in Greece not Canada. Wanda plays a former spy who has dropped out.
But trouble is just around the corner. Made during the early 70 when the spy
fad had passed and there were no go good guy spies anymore except for that
Double Oh fellow. This one is difinately worth a look.

I saw an episode of "The Saint" around Thanksgiving which costarred
Vladek Sheybal as an evil Russian agent. (Imagine that!) All thru the
episode I was pretty sure that was our doc and watched the credits to
be sure. Merry Christmas everyone!
