Hi UFO-heads,
What's the guns/pistols/small weapons the SHADO agents are given in usage? Why didn't the producers come up with something more "iconic" and innovative? (Not LAZER guns, but something more "in line" with the futuristic design of the series). Unfortunately, I don't remember what's the gun they use to carry. Hope it's something recognizable. Many thanks, T.C. |
The weapon props carried by shado are pretty cool designs. I have reference
photos of most of the weapons. I made several replica props. I will send you photos if you want. Gordon Carew [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

I don't think SHADO used any off the shelf weaponry - looks like all
their handguns were made for the show. Thinking hard the only real guns I can remember would be the shotgun in Flight Path - not sure about the guns the civilians used in ESP and Square Triangle without watching them. --- In [hidden email], "apecalypsenow" <apecalypsenow@...> wrote: > > Hi UFO-heads, > > What's the guns/pistols/small weapons the SHADO agents are given in > usage? Oh please, tell me about the "special" handguns they carry. Are the
SHADO-guns "futuristic" looking as well? Describe. What's really different in these guns, basically? Thanks... Why not put them in the photo section here so that we can all
appreciate them please? --- In [hidden email], harada357@... wrote: > > The weapon props carried by shado are pretty cool designs. I have reference > photos of most of the weapons. Most of the weapons used by SHADO operatives were just made up. The must
used was the pistol with silencer. From the design it looks to be a 9mm. It would have had a magazine capacity of 8 or 9 rounds. It looks rather like a prototype weapon made by High Standard for tests by the U.S. Army in the 1950's to replace the 1911 .45 automatic but the old school boys at the Pentagon killed the program. The other weapons were rifles and submachineguns and these too had basis in prototype weapons that had been tested but not adopted for military use. Two real guns were used in the series. One was the pistol Straker uses on the firing range in Kill Straker. This is a SIG P-210. It the the military issue pistol of the Swiss Army. The weapon is a 9mm caliber and had a 8 round magazine. The guns are very accurate and at the time of the series the most expensive 9mm service pistol on the market costing almost twice what most others cost. The other weapon that was real was the submachinegun that Straker and Lake used in Timelash. Its a Ingram M-10 or more commonly called a MAC-10 from the the mistake that the company Military Armament Corporation (M.A.C.) who made it designed it. The weapon is a 9mm but a .45 caliber version was also made. Magazine capacity was either 16 which was the one used in the show or 32 rounds. The Ingram is noted for its very high rate of fire, 1100 rounds a minute which gives it a very recognizeable firing sound. The one in Timelashed has been dressed up with a longer barrel and different shoulder stock and a aiming tube sight to make it look more futuristic. James K. Just had a look at Timelash and some pictures of a MAC10. It does not
look like it was made from a MAC10 to me. For starters the hand grip is angled back (MAC10's grip is straight down)and there is no cocking mechanism on the Timelash gun and nowhere for any bullets to eject from either. You got me excited there for a moment but sadly I think you are mistaken ... The other weapon that was real was the submachinegun that > Straker and Lake used in Timelash.
