What's with The Big White Hand Set prop???

The few episodes I have seen of UFO, there is what looks like a big
white hand statue that someone is always moving around the studio
grounds. What's the deal with this??? For such a strange prop, they
seem to use it enough times, is it something that Sylvia Anderson
sculptured and Gerry used it in the show to get it the heck out of
his living room???

This is my very favorite prop in the show, and I get a kick out of it every
time I see it. In fact, I used it in one of my stories, because I like it
so much!

It's not in *that* many episodes, is it? Just a few of the last
few episodes, like TIMELASH & MINDBENDER...
