To Ultramannick (and anyone else interested):
Since you asked, I WILL tell. The other sci-fi actor who did not behave
well among the fans was Marina Sirtis. My mother swears that when she met
her in Denver, she was very sweet. But at the Con in Chicago, she was a
b**ch. When I saw her later in Vegas at the 35th Anniversary of Trek, she
was okay, but nowhere near as pleasant as Jeri Ryan or Gates McFadden. It
didn't matter so much at the 35th, because she was only one of many, many
Trek stars there (and not even one of my faves.) But at the Chicago Con,
her and Michael Dorn were the headliners, so it really made me feel I'd
wasted my money. I realize that actors have off-days as well as anyone
else, but I'm not paying to see that. A job's a job, after all, and the
show must go on. Hell, even a nonactor like me can work up a smile and a
joke for the customers on my worst day at work. Surely a real actor can
give their fans the same courtesy. I don't think that's asking so much.
BTW, have any of you met actors that were really wonderful to meet in
person? You know, who remember your name or ask you about yourself? I met
a few of those at the 35th, and they weren't the series stars--- they were
movie stars! Wild, huh? The sweetest ones I met were Gary Lockwood, Spice
Williams, Robin Curtis, Wil Wheaton (believe it or not!), and Alice Krige.
Now they understood taking care of the customer!!! *grin*
Sorry, Marc, to go off-topic a bit, but really, this all began with that
interview where Bishop admitted that he makes a bad first impression.
