Wigs!/Journey To the Far Side of the Sun

Robin
I didn't know George Sewell wore a wig, too. I'm definitely going to
have to watch these DVDs more carefully... I recently found "Journey To
The Far Side of the Sun". I enjoyed watching it and seeing how many of
the UFO cast were in it. I don't remember how many were but if the tape
ever gets back in my hands I'll count them. (It's making its way around
work and there are lot of sci-fi fans there!)

I read that some actors wore a wig even if they had
plenty of hair was for continuity reasons. The
episodes were not shown in the order that they were
filmed.

This way the producers, directors, etc didn't have to
worry about the hair being long in one episode,
followed by an episode with short hair, then followed
yet again with long hair.

I'm not sure if this is really true or if it is urban
legend.

This isn't generally the case. It's the job of the hairdresser to keep
continuity in hair length. It may have been worth it though to have a wig
made for an actor rather than have to recreate an elaborate hairdo every day
for the year or so it could take to film a series.

On a related subject I do recall William Gaunt saying that it was in The
Champions contracts that their weight shouldn't fluctuate outside of certain
limits.
