Hi All,
While I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm for our new SHADO group, I get a bit concerned when I see the number of messages go over 30 in a given day, as many of our subscribers get frustrated and overwhelmed by such a large volume of mail, and end up unsubscribing in disgust. And today I see 50 messages, with over 20 from just Shelia and Jim Main! So perhaps it's time for our new (and returning) members to review "The Rules" for this list: http://www.egroups.com/files/SHADO/rules.html Specifically, it advises against people sending too many messages on any given day, and it also advises against one-liners, chit-chat type messages, and off-topic messages. All of which we've had a bit too many lately. So in the interest of keeping this list healthy, please be a bit more careful in the frequency & content of your SHADO postings. Thanks! -- Marc Martin, [hidden email] |

Oops sorry Gaffer did I get carried away? Must be because I got withdrawal symptoms whilst I was away and now I just overdosed. Did I post as many as that? It is difficult to keep track sometimes when you sub to a number of lists and just work through what has come in. I'll be a good Shado Operative from now on and just keep communications to the minimum :-) Sheila Still UFO Crazy crazy crazy crrraaazzzzy! |

Yeah, I'm on lots, too. A good procedure is to force yourself to read ALL the messages b4 you reply - more often than not, I find someone has already said what I was going to. If you use Windows, X-windows or a Mac, you can use cut&paste to reply to several messages from a list in one go. That way, as long as you have some on-topic stuff in your post, I don't see why you couldn't include the 'naughty' stuff like 'cute one-liners', too.. (Presumably this would be OK, wouldn't it, Marc?) BTW, I've recreated a lot of my lost animated 3D UFO vehicle renderings, but this time at 768x576 (taking up about 1MB per frame!) As they'll be used to make 384x288 25 frames per second mpeg movies, you can probaly figure that my replacement 13GB hard disk is already filling up.. Now where're those backup tapes.. <sheepish grin> HTH :) -- Rob |

Yes, when you sit down at the computer and are reading/replying to your [hidden email] mail, it's better to make your reply in one long e-mail than in several e-mails each containing one or two lines. And it's even better if your replies are on-topic! :-) -- Marc Martin, [hidden email] |
