Hi All,
I will to confirm the extraordinary high quality of the UFO DVD by Carlton Visual Entertainment; just I finish now to see the four discs that I receive a pair of days ago. The inside box contain also an 12 pages "behind the scenes" booklet with many very interesting informations, plus 5 UFO post-cards with subjects: Alec Freeman, UFO, Gay Ellis, Foster's Car, and Capt. Craig from "Kill Straker". On the back of the cards you find a type postal cards print and other small clear grey UFO pictures. No many words to describe the emotion to see the digitally remastered UFO episodes. A find it better that the Laser Disc visions. The more important new things are in anycase (personally) the galleries of the deleted scenes with many never see before behind the scenes high quality pics. On the what's news page of UFO MERCHANDISE COLLECTION at http://www.ufotv.it you can see a preview of the display box of the UFO DVD and also deatail on the new UFO CARDS by CARDS INC. just received some days ago also. --- In SHADO@y..., "angelo_finamore" <finamore@s...> wrote: > UFO DVD & new UFO Cards ... just received now Update pics on > http://www.ufotv.it > > -- > Angelo Finamore > -- |

Hi Bill and all,
Angelo Finamore wrote: <<I will to confirm the extraordinary high quality of the UFO DVD>> Got the DVDs today (Monday). You're right, the picture quality, and especially detail, is fantastic... seems like any 'film noir' quality the series seemed to have must be put down to bad quality of cine film :^ ... though this does sometimes show up bad lighting, with heavy shadows cast by some of the actors in some shots. Commentary by Gerry Anderson on the first epispode is interesting - presumably will have to wait for the second release, including the 'Sub-Smash' episode, for Ed Bishop's commentary. (Will include some notable quotes in later e-mails). Pity commentary couldn't have been arranged for all the episodes; the commentary on 'Kill Straker !' for example, by Ed Bishop and Mike Billington at the 'Eclectic 21' convention in the U.K. (and the 'Straker and Foster' ISOSHADO con) would have been ideal for this DVD release. Extras like deleted scenes are also interesting, but often include only video (audio having not been preserved) or only stills, not full scenes (for example, Freeman's appearance at the party in 'Ordeal'). The packaging is also quite flimsy, and 'proper' DVD cases would have been enormously preferable to the cardboard cases (and disposable cellophane wrapper) the 'collectors edition' comes in. Summary: Picture quality: 10 out of 10 ! Extras: 3 out of 10 Packaging: 1 out of 10 Regards, Andy __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Now I am more eagerly awaiting the DVDs :-) At least my box was posted today (sigh). How much deleted video scenes are on the DVDs? And how long are they, Andy? Thanks! Christian |

A find it better that the Laser Disc > visions. On reading Angelo's mail this morning my first thought was, come on, they can't be THAT much better than watching a live TV broadcast! But I picked up the box set this afternoon, and I have to say - I'm astounded. The colour balance, detail, contrast, clarity - you have to see it to believe it. I was gobsmacked. Even in Computer Affair which usually looks a bit yellowy and faded in parts - it's all fixed!! It just looks absolutely amazing, significantly better than watching the live BBC broadcasts a year or two ago. I actually felt a bit emotional as well when I realised how good it was! Compared to watching the VHS copies, you almost feel like you're there - it's that good. The sound quality is spot-on as well - noise-free, lush and dynamic. And the packaging is superb - a lavish, glossy folder that opens out to reveal the discs in all their glory, each featuring a head portrait of a prominent SHADO person. It's beautifully done. I haven't even looked at the booklet yet! Carlton have done us proud - it's worth every penny, and then some. Just fantastic. The animated menu is terrific. One nit-pick is the CGI animation of Sky One pursuing a UFO, which looks a wee bit 'homemade' and naff, but who cares! On the plus side, there's an 'overhead view' animation of interceptors lifting off from their silos which is REALLY cool. Well, I'm going back to sit on front of my telly and play with the special features! Cheers James |

I like the site [www.ufo-dvd.com] but it takes alot of overhead to load. The
flash context is very good. The layout is better then alot I've seen. It seems like the images are off some of the fan sites though. Well later. <<How much deleted video scenes are on the DVDs? Also two extended scenes from 'Exposed' - of Foster's conversations with Kofax and Jackson - but video only, the audio not having been preserved, sadly :( The other deleted scenes are represented either by still pictures or dialogue text, and are; Text and still of a conversation between Foster and Grant in 'Survival' Text and stills of a conversation between Foster and Tina Duval in 'Survival' Text and stills of a conversation between Freeman and Tina Duval in 'Survival' Still of Mark Bradley in the Moonbase sleep sphere in 'Survival' Stills of Alec Freeman at the party in 'Ordeal' There are also some stills from the broadcast shows and some behind-the-scenes shots.
