I can`t imagine Straker being in the same job for 30 + years! If Straker
was promoted to General, an obvious step since the demise of the actor
Grant Taylor, Straker could still play an active part in the running of
SHADO.

SHADO would still need a C-in-C though.
I still think Tom Hanks should be up for the part, or perhaps Helen Mirren
as a second choice.

I can see Straker as getting kicked upstairs after 30 yrs or so, but the
person I see replacing him is Foster (aka Mike Billington - NOT Tom Hanks -
please no! I LOVE Tom Hanks but not as Straker or Straker's replacement.
