I love MST3K, even when they do "good movies".

Most of the movies they do really are trash, but they have hit a few of
the classics too - but it's all fun.

At least it appeals to me. Wife and I have a habit of heckling
commercials, especially the fine print on medical commercials.

....but I collect fountain pens, so I'm not right to start with.

None of you are crazy, I suspect the show you are thinking of
is 'Mystery Science Theater 2000' and it ran in the mid to late
1990s. You can find tons of stuff with a quick web search if you
want to comfirm. They alway's trashed what they were watching, that
was the point of their show. The guy's name was Joel Hodges or
something close I think. He had two bots who watched the movies with
him (they were shadowed on the screen) one was made out of a gumball
machine and the other was made out of a toy bowling pin, plastic
serving tray's and some junk. Very silly, very funny.
