latest SFX magazine says ...

carly ward

I’m behind with reading my SHADO digests so apologies if this has already
been covered and discussed:

SFX magazine (UK publication) Christmas 2003 (page 10)
In a “Science fiction gets set for new year” column headed by a small pic of
3 UFO interceptors titled “these babies could soon be flying across your
screens again” there’s following comment:

-----
“ Carlton America
UFO. The Gerry Anderson series is getting an update (alongside a US version
of Soldier Soldier, of all things…) ”
-----

I assume they’re not referring to a US issue of the UFO megaset! Maybe it
really will happen. One year!

A few pages on (page 13), there’s a small article which refers in part to
Captain Scarlet:

------
“Meanwhile Anderson has put out an opportunity for people to invest in
Captain Scarlet. Yeah, yeah, we all know what you’re thinking. These things
are often dubious (remember Legionnaires?) However, it is Anderson, and he’s
got a good track record. <snip> Sounds tempting? Sadly, you’ll need £11,000,
(approx USD 16,000) which is the minimum investment.”

Details are available at www.margetts.com.
-----

Okay, that’s Captain Scarlet, not UFO. And does Gerry A still own any rights
to UFO? Or have Carlton got them all? But if UFO were resurrected, wouldn’t
it be cool to have the opportunity to invest in a UFO series / movie /
whatever? Yeah, I know some might have a proviso: “I would only invest in a
UFO which was true to the original premise” but for me, the thought of being
able to invest in bringing back a show that I’ve adored since childhood
would be very appealing. Finding £11,000 less so!

Hmmm… wonder what I could line up to sell on e-bay?!

Regards,
Carly :-D
