Hi all,

I've just added 3 new photos to my UFO "new photos" page
(top row):

These are from 2 1/4" transparencies that Doug Pelton
was kind enough to loan me.

U.F.O. - Best of (2 DVDs)

I never knew that the U.F.O. - Best of (2 DVDs) collection was published in
Germany on September 1st 2005. It consists of 2 DVD's with six episodes and
costs EUR 5,99. Nobody commented on the content or anything else so far, but
to me, the cover looks absolutely awful.

Wow, thanks! Never heard of this DVD release before...

And thanks everyone for the kind words about the latest batch
of UFO photos -- it seems that I always get a good reaction
whenever there is a photo of Gay Ellis added... :-)

I suppose the first thing is to establish the episode from which the
pose is taken. Looks familiar - could it be from: Identified, Flight
Path or even Close Up. Sorry, I don't have time to check at the moment.

At first I thought it could be Brendon Stafford, but I'm certain
that's not right...

IMO, it rather reminded me of the moment from Identified when Gay
leaned over Joan's shoulder while they watched the radar screen waiting
to see if the UFO made it past the Interceptors and the latter
says "It's through."

Well, I think you did. But not as a 2 DVD set - it was released as a
6 DVD box years ago, which means: hands off! The dubbing isn't quiet
right (it doesn't fit with the picture sometimes).

The six episodes are

The Cat with ten lives
The responsibility seat
Psychobombs

As to that male crew member, I emailed Leo Eaton, who was first
assistant director on many of the early UFO episodes. Here
is his reply:

Good to hear from you. I don't know the name and he's not one of the
Gerry Anderson "regulars". Although he looks familiar, I suspect he was
after my time. But the fact that he's got that glass around his neck
makes it almost certain he's the Lighting Cameraman (or Director of
Photography, as they're called over here). It's possible he's the Chief
Gaffer (the primary electrician) but he looks too well dressed for that.
My money's on the Lighting Cameraman. If you know which episode the
photo comes from, you should be able to check the credits.

So why are you certain that it's not Brendan Stafford? That
seems to me to be the most likely person it is! Brendan
was the only Lighting Cameraman on UFO, and he was 54 years
old in 1969.
