I just read a mini biography on Benedict Cumberbatch, he is playing the villain in the new Star Trek movie. It was saying how his mother is Wanda Ventham, and I am thinking gee that name is familiar. I read further in the sentence and it states she was the actress who played Colonel Virginia Lake on the cult sci-fi series UFO. I wonder if anyone else heard this before, I certainly was not aware. Pretty cool to see Wanda and UFO mentioned in a major publication!

Wanda also did a couple of Hammer movies. I know the name from besides UFO.

Are you asking if we knew who played Colonel Lake or if we knew that
Benedict Cumberbatch is her son? My son is a Sherlock fan so we've known about him for some time. While my friends grew up in the 70's with posters of Farrah, I liked the Hammer girls like Wanda. Had a big crush on Caroline Munro :) She spoke a line in The Spy Who Loved Me. Could never figure out what she said till I found the script online and read it. She is on the speed boat taking 007 and XXX to see Stromberg. Says why Stromberg doesnt want to shake hands.
sorry.. now back to your regular scheduled program :) Been a while since i watched Star Trek- the animated series. i wonder why I am thinking of that :) Bruce -----Original Message----- >From: Bruce Sherman <[hidden email]> >Sent: Apr 29, 2013 11:19 PM >To: [hidden email] >Subject: Re: [SHADO] new Star Trek movie > >Wanda also did a couple of Hammer movies. She didn't do a hammer film, but a Tigon film The Blood Beast Terror (1967).

I have both movies on DVD, thought they were both Hammer, been a while since I watched it. And of course Kronos was a favorite, had Caroline in it.

Yes, sorry you're correct she was in Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter; I had forgotten.

Wanda Ventham has made three appearances in Doctor Who (1963-1989):
The Faceless Ones (1967 / 6 x 25 minutes - Patrick Troughton) Image of the Fendhal (1977 / 4 x 25 minutes - Tom Baker) Time and the Rani (1987 / 4 x 25 minutes - Sylvester McCoy) Rick --- On Wed, 1/5/13, Marc Martin <[hidden email]> wrote: From: Marc Martin <[hidden email]> Subject: Re: [SHADO] Re: new Star Trek movie To: [hidden email] Date: Wednesday, 1 May, 2013, 14:12 On May 1, SimonG <[hidden email]> wrote: > Am i the only one who remembers she also did a Dr Who story late 1977 with Tom Baker called "Image of the Fendahl"??
