Which page is this history on? The link there showed a complicated
front-page and I was so heavily and continuously machine-gunned with
requests to accept cookies from something called Apache that I had to
go and leave it.

The page in question is at: http://digilander.iol.it/ISOS/interceng.htm
The next point, I find it interesting you were "machine-gunned" by cookie
requests from Apache as I have 'warn before cookies' turned on and got no
such notices. Apache is a server (Which has a 85% chance of being the
server software for the iol.it domain) and has no need to write or request
cookies. There is little evident on the site itself that would require
cookies.
