Re: Submarine Design and UFO Killers

Paul Bowers
I haven't yet cleared this idea with Shado Central, I'm just
flinging it at you all from Moonbase to see reactions and
opinions.

Maybe I missed the part where the sub was able to efficiently
manoover with that blunt end after SkyDiver left. Design issues
and all. If I had my way, SkyDiver would be a slender, underslung
attachment, appropriately proportioned. It would fit snugly to the
bottom front end and be appropriately curvy for aerodynamic and
hydrodynamic reasons. I'll generate a sketch and FAX if anyone
wants to see it (' tis only in my head for the moment, the final
design is already in the brain cells).

Oh crap, now that brane of mine is working overtime.

We might want multiple versions of SkyDiver, all attached to the
sub.

Personally, I would place them off to the sides. I'm thinking
about anti-sexist attitudes and penile concepts.

UFO on British Sci-fi Channel

Suzanne Sutherland
Just letting you know that it was Exposed tonight. I haven't seen such
a clear and bright copy of this episode since I watched it in the early
70s!!!

Anybody know if this run of the show has been taken from the original
film?

There were no edits. Everything was super cool fab and groovy (except
the inane adverts).

I think that all of the transfers of UFO from film to video in the past
10 years have used the same source -- 35mm film struck from the original
negatives. These were used for the Japanese laserdiscs, a few episodes
shown on the American Sci-Fi Channel, and the BBC2 broadcasts a few
years ago. Although I have no way of knowing, I'm assuming that what
you're seeing on the UK Sci-Fi Channel is the same that was shown
on BBC2.

And of course, the DVD release will most likely be even better!
