I think it may be a coincidence .. If a Beatles song was to
be selected on the basis of Michael Billington's acquaintance
with George Harrison (if I understand Anny correctly) it would
surely be a Harrison song playing at the party, rather than a
McCartney song, wouldn't it?

He played guitar in a band from Liverpool called "The Beatles".
They were very popular in the 1960s.
