Oh indeed. I would prefer the ordinary public space exploration to
continue. And public contact with the aliens, to learn what is going
on out there. I can't imagine that civilization would break down
merely because we find out that there is someone out there. There
might well be a long massive public excitement and sensation and
spaced-out-ness, but it would settle down. See
