I think the Region 2 (Carlton) will likely be the better release, based on
what we've already seen with the Region 1 & 2 releases of SPACE:1999 and
THUNDERBIRDS. In both cases, the Region 2's have had (slightly)
better picture quality, and much better extras and menus. Of course,
the Region 2's are going at a slightly faster speed than the original
35mm film, which I only find to be *occasionally* annoying on the
new Carlton SPACE:1999 DVDs. Also, my APEX DVD player doesn't really
do the best job of converting PAL to NTSC, so for people who have
that player, the A&E Region 1 DVD's would look better on their
NTSC (American) TV sets. I suspect that the newer PAL/NTSC converter
DVD players may be better in this regard, but I don't have any
information on that.
But I will buying both... perhaps the French ones too, since it looks
like they will be released first... and besides, I've never heard
UFO dubbed in French before! :-)
