It is difficult to understand the reasons for the
strong and personal enmity between Straker and
Henderson - so different from the early days, as shown
in 'Confetti Check A-OK' (filmed, ironically, after
both 'Court Martial' and 'Conflict'). Henderson taking
umbrage at being sidelined might be reason enough; but
Henderson says himself (in CCAOK) that his health
wouldn't permit him to become SHADO chief, and seems
happy with his protege Straker getting the job as the
next best outcome. Perhaps Henderson expected Straker
would be his puppet, doing exactly (and only) what
Henderson told him to, and was disabused of this idea
when Straker stamped his own leadership on SHADO ?
