Being dropped or bumped won't cause a problem. Neither will
x-rays or magnetic fields. I'm not sure what a deep scratch
would do - but it's never happened to me (yet). It's possible
that a serious scratch would render the entire disc unplayable
but given reasonable care that shouldn't happen. Never happened
to any of my CDs for example.
