Hi all,

I'm back from my vacation in Hawaii, and surprise -- the UFO DVDs
were awaiting me upon my arrival! I also didn't get any postcards
with mine -- perhaps this is an Amazon.co.uk thing? Also, although
these DVDs play just fine on my APEX player, when I put them into my
American Sony player, it said that playing these DVDs in this region
was prohibited, so I wonder if these really are region-free? I'll
have to setup my Apex as Region-1 only and see what happens then.

It's about midnight, so I'm not about to start watching a whole
episode to see what it's like. So far, it does appear that the
quality is better than the Japanese laserdiscs, and what really
astounds me is the audio quality -- it appears that they found (and
used!) the magnetic tracks instead of the optical audio tracks, which
has far better sound quality than has ever been heard before.

Also, I *do* notice that these are running a bit faster than the
laserdiscs... that 4% PAL speedup...
