Actually in Bond, they almost never shoot people directly. Bond wouldn't have made it out of Dr. No if the villians hadn't tried to get fancy. A point that was made repeatedly in the Austian Powers spoofs.
James ids correct that just shoot ing Straker would have made this one of the shortest shows, not to mention the most boring.
