Okay, I've been away three days so this is a bit late to put my tupence
or two cents worth in but here goes anyway.
Just because fans are enthusiatic about something doesn't mean it will
be made anytime soon if at all. Fans were very enthusiatic about the making
of the next Star Wars film after Return of the Jedi but it didn't get made
for 20 years and the reason wasn't because Lucas Arts was waiting for the
tech to make. The same goes for the the next Indiana Jones film but
Speillberg on the wrong track with Young Indiana Jones and tried to used it
as a tool to teach history rather than tell a exciting story and went off and
pouted for years when it got cancelled. The problem is Fans get enthusiatic
about anything having to do with their favor show. If fans being enthusiatic
about something is all it took Spelling could remake Fantastic Journey, or
Star Maidens, or Quark for that matter.
What a producer wants to make is something that he is enthusiatic
about and that is usually something he thinks will earn big money at the
boxoffice. This doesn't always happen but it is the most likely reason.
So if you can give Mr. Spelling or any other producer proof positive
that make a movie or a new TV version of UFO will give them a boxoffice hit
making back its production cost its first weekend and then raking in say a
Billion dollars or more it will get made. But don't make promises for other
fans than your self as they might not show up because the original cast isn't
in it or they don't like who is cast to play their favorite character, or the
they turned it into a comedy.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to see a UFO film or series but I want it
done right and the track record for that happening are very slim.
