I was a avid viewer of UFO when it was originally aired on Anglia TV,
I have no recollection of this "additional" scene. My ovriding memory
of Anglia was one of frustration in that they were behind the other
regions in showing the series. I think I'm also correct in saying that
ATV had started repeating the series whilst Anglia were still on the
original run - my father would sometimes would go up into the loft and
realign the aerial to pick-up ATV so I could watch UFO, allbeit the
picture was'nt quite perfect. Anglia were also very quick consign the
series to the graveyard slots, transfering it from the original Friday
evening slot, to Saturday tea time [I distinctly remember a episode of
UFO being cancelled because the 1971 Arsenal Liverpool Cup Final went
into extra time] then to Sunday lunch time. It would be interesting to
know if Anglia ever get around to showing the whole series, my
recollection is, they probably did'nt.
I was quite relieved when Anglia lost the franchise for our area and
we came under the umbrella of Yorkshire TV. Although, by then the
heyday of Anderson had passed and they did'nt turn out to much more
pro Anderson than Anglia had been, I mean they did'nt show
Thunderbirds until 1976. My only recollection of Yorkshire TV is of
trying to convince my parents to stay up and watch the the so called
banned episodes that were broadcast after the ten-o-clock news on
Wednesday nights.
Memories eh !
